Luckily, my team is uber supportive and give me the time I ask for with minimal interruption. And, as horrible as it sounds it is kind of a running joke with my team. They always sing that Black Eye Peas song "Pump It" when it's time for me to go to the back. : )
Moehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05379014667412402790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2845790198407979909.post-73619493291356846992012-09-24T22:01:36.111-07:002012-09-24T22:01:36.111-07:00Thank you, Lindsey! The fact that you don't have the privacy I had at my employer is upsetting to me as well. I'm sure La Leche will help you but keep at HR. They should know this information as it's a potential lawsuit and is a law they should be aware of.Stephanie @ My Messmerized Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05488771602394561790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2845790198407979909.post-71809615088723150962012-09-24T17:32:36.015-07:002012-09-24T17:32:36.015-07:00As long as your company has more than 50 employees...As long as your company has more than 50 employees this applies
As of March 22, 2010

Health care bill establishes a right to pump at work in entire U.S.!

Whatever you think of the health care bill passed by Congress yesterday, you may be pleased to hear that the bill extends a right to pump at work to moms in every state. Some states, such as California and New York, already have such a law, but must most don't.

A provision (in my mind the most important one) of Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney's legislation was incorporated in to the Senate version of the health care bill some time ago, and I'm told that it remained in the bill just approved.

When signed, the bill would require employers of 50 or more employees to:

...provide reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk for her nursing child for 1 year after the child’s birth each time such employee has need to do so. The employer shall make reasonable efforts to provide a place, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from co-workers and the public, which may be used by an employee to express breast milk. An employer shall not be required to compensate an employee for any work time spent for such purpose.Lindseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17364035288687998620noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2845790198407979909.post-54930008325752190192012-09-24T16:28:30.088-07:002012-09-24T16:28:30.088-07:00I can't believe this.
